Salish Goat Printed Shawl 200*65
Black Goat Cashmere is excited about our first collaboration with Coast Salish artist and cultural consultant, Cory Douglas. This wearable art piece signifies the esteemed goat in proud gait, naturally under blue skies high in the mountain, here locally and in Mongolia. Cory captures the essence that inspires both his heritage and that of Black Goat Cashmere. As a member of the Squamish Nation Cory's family crest of the Mountain goat is passed down through his matriarchal lineage. Goat hair is revered in the Coast Salish community and is spun on spindle whorls to create yarn to weave into blankets, worn by Salish nobility. Mountain goat yarn is a rich commodity used in trading.
